Tunes to Heal your Aching Sox Heart

Well, that pretty much sucked. Compounded by all that LOB. OH well. A bit easier to digest when you have a (nearly) double-digit lead. Though Gordon Edes reminds us that the 2002 Sox hit a high-water mark of 40-17. You remember that team? Yeah, me neither.

Anyway, a while back Monocle Man sent me this link of baseball-type songs from Coverville. Vizqueen doing 'Centerfield' (and channeling lots of 80's Minneapolis power-pop) is the highlight. (Though let me know if you fully understand that random line about the 'brown-eyed handsome man'.) Some piece of crap by the dudes from Damn Yankees is the lowlight.

The 2002 team was the one

The 2002 team was the one that had two starters finish in the top 3 for the Cy or something like that (Pedro and D-Lowe, who threw that no-hitter). Also I think Manny won the batting title that year. Still didn't make the playoffs. I'm pretty sure D-Lowe's exorbitant Dodger contract is based largely on his 2002 success, though, so I guess it worked out for him. And speaking of still eating off 2002, Barry Zito won the Cy that year, I believe. Ka-ching!
